Hi Qstack-ers! We are hosting a panel session for Brittany Krystantos on pride month, the last week of the month. Brittany is a mental health advocate. We're looking for a few more panelists. All virtual, but just having a healthy conversation around mental health and perhaps the challenges you endure and how you have to go the extra mile sometimes just for self love. Learn more about her here https://www.brittkrystantos.com/ - we also did an interview with her too. https://www.oncedaily.media/p/get-to-know-brittany-krystantos-author

If you're interested leave a comment with a little about you or your website etc/info.

Hey, I'd love to be a panelist! I'm a queer writer with anxiety and a lot of what I write about is mental health related. My latest novel, Falling Through the Night, specifically features a protagonist dealing with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and her quest for a healthy family. Excited to learn more about Brittany and her work! https://gailmarleneschwartz.com/

Very pleased to mention my conversation with Gail Marlene Schwartz on her podcast "Writers In Relationship" - have a look if you get a chance! There are not one but two surprise reveals - and Gail is utterly charming.

Hi Qstack-ers! I'd like to invite you lovely folks to collaborate with me. A while ago I wrote a piece that is one big list of what queerness means to me. I've been wanting to share it this month in honor of pride (and 3 years of being out) and would LOVE it if you would collaborate with me and add to my original.

There's a short form here to do that, with a link to the original piece and some instructions.

https://forms.gle/TAvg7FU9ydczTV6z7

I will close the form on June 14th. I plan to publish the final piece on my substack this month (and maybe submit it to Qstack to consider?)

Thanks, all. Lovely to be here with you. 🌟🌱🌈

Hi everyone! Happy pride ❤️💜💙💚💛🧡 I'm so happy to be here, to see so many queer peeps!

I'm Nospheratt, Nos for short. I’m in my 40s. Not cis. Not neurotypical. English is my fourth language. Living the expat life in Geneva, Switzerland.

I write Joy Every Week - a weekly quest to find joy in everyday things. https://nospheratt.substack.com/p/the-quest-for-joy

For Pride, I’m writing an edition about queer joy, to publish closer to the end of June.

I’m looking for queer people who’d like to share their queer joys, the everyday queer things that bring joy to them. It can be credited or anonymous, as you wish.

If you’d like to share, or have questions, please send me a message! :)

Hi Everyone! Victoria (she/her) of Carer Mentor: Empathy & Inspiration here. https://www.carermentor.com/

I'd like to invite anyone, LGBTQ+ or ally, to share any piece related to 'Caregiving', in particular, any challenges you've faced, whether you've managed to navigate them, found a resolution or not. This is an open call with no deadline. Written/audio/photo story/video - whatever you'd like to do to express yourself. Regardless of whether you're a subscriber to Carer Mentor, I'd love to hear from you.

How: Before you publish your publication, let me know. I'd write a brief intro to your piece for you to approve. Then I'd link to your piece and give you a byline - you'd see the draft and we'd both publish. I've found that this is the easiest way to work, as I've limited time as a caregiver.

My only expectation and hope is that others can learn from your experience and feel empathy or be inspired. Sharing is caring, something I know this community is fluent in! xo

There is a lot of content on my website (8 months since launch) - here's the 2024 mid-year review I just published, where Troy & I exchanged comments: https://www.carermentor.com/p/hows-our-community-network-going.

Food for thought I hope. FYI I still have the capacity to respond to every comment these days, but pls forgive any time delays Caregiver time is unpredictable ;-)

Hi Victoria, I'm a 49 year old gay man living in rural Brazil, who cares for a mother with Alzheimer's. I'm fairly new to Substack and haven't yet written expecifically about my life as a carer. I'd be happy to chat a bit more with you about your offer. (And, as a fellow carer, am happy to wait for your response whenever you have some free time!)

Hi Ollie! Impeccable timing, as I've just sat down! I'm sorry that you're mother is suffering from Alzheimer's; it's a cruel disease for everyone, not just the sufferer. Sending a hug over and some coffee strength - since I've probably had more being 4 hours ahead of you here in the UK.

I have to admit that I'm doing a little excited dance, seeing your reply ;-)

My short reply: 1) I'm happy to share thoughts on my Substack journey if that can help - here's some articles I posted on Carer Mentor: https://www.carermentor.com/t/back-office. and 2) I'm heading over to the Chat part of Substack to send you a direct message which will be longer ;-)

Thanks Victoria! I'm already on my 3rd cup of coffee and it's only just past 8am here. :-)

I've saved your links and look forward to reading some of your articles, and hearing from you via direct message.

Wave of text messages now on chat for you to read ;-) Yup ' Beware of caffeinated caregivers' could be a bumper sticker or T shirt - you can tell by the messages I just sent you ;-)

Just a couple days ago I agreed to try and cowrite a novel with a writer friend of mine who's already a successful ghost writer! I just write in my free time as a hobby so in my head I can't help but think "wow a real writer wants to work with me!" But I'm so excited for it! It was funny because we were discussing books we had both read and I said "do you know what would be fun?" And she replied "writing a book together?" And I said "yes but that wasn't what I was going to say. That sounds more fun though, let's talk about that!"

I don't remember what I was originally going to say at all and I don't particularly care 😂 it's my job to brainstorm some concepts while she meets a deadline for her ghost writing position!

Cool! What genre are you thinking, LL?

I'm not sure yet! I kind of want some sort of cosmic horror-esque sci-fi maybe? But also that's sort of my comfort zone so maybe I'm just falling into comfortable habits. I've read some of her work and I'm trying to figure out what would work for both of us, but admittedly I've never done a collaborative writing project before so this is uncharted waters for me. Fingers crossed it goes well 🤞🏽

Nice! Post updates for us here?

Speaking of: We just started watching "3 Body Problem" on Netflix, not understanding some of the negativity, it's pretty cool - I won't spoil anything, but we just got through the Panama Canal scene. Holy guacamole... 🫣

Gladly!

And I haven't watched 3 body problem yet! I fully intend to, but I'm trying to decide if I want to read the books first or not, and I'm paralyzed by indecision 😅 Eventually I will start one of them though!

Happy pride! I am a 70 year old gay man living in rural Ohio. I spent a good bit of my life in urban blue Ohio. I am looking for other rural LGBTQ+ people to possibly collaborate with. I am striving to capture the rural experience of queer people. I moved back to Rural America after being born in Rural America 7 years ago on my retirement. Anyone interested in collaborating or just subscribing to my substack and to reading our commenting on my thoughts. https://rainbowthreads.substack.com

Hey Tom, rural Ohio native here!

I consider myself an LGBTQ+ ally, but I'd be happy to reach out to my friends in the community and see if anyone has any stories of interests to share maybe? Unfortunately I don't know many from the same background here on substack, but I can ask around offline and get in touch with you if I have any luck! Love from the northeast!

P.s. I've been trying to post this comment since I saw your post at 7:30 and it keeps failing for some reason? Not sure what that's about. Hopefully it goes through this time! 🤞🏽

Some of my absolute favorite books were authored by two people collaborating! I think it would be so fun to write WITH someone someday. To turn that process into a conversation instead of a solo act.

I have no experience with co-writing, although I am contemplating an anthology of essays, so I guess that counts? *thinking thinking* Thanks Sara!

Thanks for the mention, Troy. An excellent, and quite complete list.

Adam Nathan and Remi Bazerque are working together to bring his short story "Backgammon" to the screen, another great example for collaboration across disciplines.
