Rainbow Warriors

We are the warriors who battle with rainbow weapons
From internal suppression
To the choice of outed truth
We fight

We are the misfits on the island of nuance and most misunderstood
Unicorns who refuse to be forced into boxes
After finally escaping the closets of shame inside ourselves

We dream of freedom of expression, of love, of being our fullest most fluid selves
Where gender isn’t a territory colonized by yet another white man
And feminism is no longer feared nor denied

We are the dancers, the creatives, the seekers
The children who colored outside the lines
We see beauty beyond what meets the eye
And we create a world inside a broken one
Where every human’s core is celebrated with glitter

We live in the grey and strike war against society’s definition of right vs wrong
We are fighters who love and lovers who fight for safety
to be exactly who we are
loving who we love

We are the colorful ones who feel into the layers of our souls
From L to A+ we are a spectrum of honesty
An array of the Creator’s brilliant tapestry
of intentional design

We are merrymakers
Who don’t let the fear of hell keep us from creating a heaven
in the hell on Earth

We are exactly who we were created to be
Not wrong
Not broken
Not weak
Not gross
Not less than
Not erasable

We are as bright and beautiful as the depths in which our courage runs
The truth is, we sparkle
And that scares them
Because we defy the quo of the status
And bring color to black and white

We, the people of the queer community, are already a perfect human,
though faced with injustice in a land without tranquility
You see, we promote a reimagined existence
Just by being listeners of our own hearts

We don’t need acceptance from them
We need it for ourselves
We need it for each other
We need it so we can keep resisting the conformity of a dull and lacking fear-based system

With our rainbow weapons ready
Pride warriors
We fight
